towing strap down

Post by panic_fan on Thu Mar 27, 2014 2:03 pm

Borrowing a friends trailer to haul the bus this weekend.
Normally I drive it so I am new to this trailer queen thing.

Without having the "tire/wheel" tie down straps, whats the best place to strap down the bus? The tow loops / tow hooks?

1970 Bus

thanks!

When I towed mine home from North Carolina, I put straps around the front beam. And in the rear, the straps went over each axle. But I had the early trans with axle tubes, not sure if it would work as well with IRS axles.

Wrap the straps around the rear torsion housing in the rear and like Eric said around the beam up front. Watch for brake lines and grease fittings.

Went to get the trailer, tires were crap so I didn't use. Guess he didnt check them out before he offered it to me? Looked like they were about 20 miles away from a dry rot blow out.
Anyway 228 miles on a Sunday cruise, nice weather & the bus ran great.
