'73 Ghia "Jazmine"

Post by CanisUnis on Sun May 12, 2013 11:09 am

New to me on Friday evening. I have loved the Ghias since I was a kid, and my brother, peregrine67, has a few VWs to his name so he helped me check her out before purchasing. She is pretty solid but needs a lot of work to get her where I want her to be. I am hoping to put my other addictions into her and make her uniquely mine. These include Armorcrafting in Leather, chainmaille, and Scalemaille and high end computers. Who knows what I can make work, but she will be my toy for a long time to come. I am new to this so suggestions welcomed.

She's a pretty solid base with tons of potential.

Can't wait to see what Lone Wolf Armory works out for the interior.

Welcome. You have a nice looking car.

My parents have always thought that the Ghias looked nice, but they aren't that common around here.

If I ever buy a VW for myself it will be a Karmen Ghia. They are so cool.

Definitely don't change the wheels unless you want to go stock, then you'd have to talk to me first about selling, but I'd rather you use them. They would look best on a ghia. Smile

You are inspiring me to hurry up and get to my Ghia... it is also a '73.
I have just purchased a 1700 T4 for upright conversion to put in it.
Look forward to seeing you around.
(I also have a set of western Turbines for mine.... LOL.)

Here are two more of those wheels in Georgia that you could pick up for spares:

Got a friend who found some in his basement, said he didn't like them but maybe someone else does. Wants to sell them.

I have 5 Rivis on the Ghia I have now.
That way the spare can be the same.
The Rivis are a good look as well.

worked on Jaz tonight. Timing and vacuum check out, but she still skips a bit. Checked and cleaned the points, rotor and contacts inside the distributor cap. Having some issues getting the timing figured out as the book says there should be more marks on my crankshaft pulley. My pulley only has one mark, should I time it to the crack in the case, and should I be timing off piston 1?
