Best anti thief device / if its a late model bug it could be a bad ignition switch or lose or bad wire . Check your point gap again and make sure dizzy is seated down on block and spins whenyou turn it over

Don't worry. I'm pretty sure if I sit down and think about it, I've done something worse. Laughing

Make absolute sure to get the wires right when plugging in the electronic module. If you cross them, you'll have just wasted $80. Red to the + side of the coil and the black to the - side.

i put the coil in as how the old one came out. it actually quit on me one day completely. before it quit it would do a bad jumping as if i shifted too early or was turning the ignition off and then back on. it wont even start on ether.

and to add to the other topic i once saw a guy change the alternator belt while the car was running. he stuck a screwdriver in the belt while it was spinning and popped it off then used the handle of the screwdriver to pop the new one on!! hes lucky the screwdriver didnt pop out and hit him in the neck lol.

My most recent dumb VW moment. I thought I might have had vapor lock on my bug. I removed the gas cap and put it on the hood. I then went back to the engine to check the fuel filter. Still no gas.... I then went to the front of the car and opened the hood to look at the tank. The gas cap slid down the hood and got wedged between the windshield and hood. You will never guess which one cracked... Embarassed
