turning empi disc brakes wide 5 style.

has anyone ever done this? im gonna figure out how to do this with the machine we have at school. i will post pictures when we figure something out. If you could shed some light on this it would be sweet in case i ever have to do it again.

Don't people just use wheel adapters? As long as it's a rail, or fender clearance isn't an issue, adapters are the easiest way to go.

i thinki he means turning the rotors, as if they are warped, or grooved up, no?

If that's the case, use the proper cones from the brake lathe. Or chuck it in a regular lathe and take equal cuts from each side. I like the swirl marks a tool post grinder leaves:-), but regular tool bits are a lot easier to set up.

we had to use a drum brake lathe and rig up the rotor cutting arms in order to get the diamond tip in behind the wheel mounting plate on the rotor. it was really rigged and there was no way to actually measure using the measuring knobs on the lathe.

i always wondered how one would turn such a rotor since the flange for the 5 lug holes were covering the braking surface of the rotor. must have been a tight fit for the tooling. i always figured it was just the cost of having aftermarket stuff, just had to replace it when it got grooved up, lol.

it was a tight fit but i got it to work. and they stop well now.
