Metal Cutting and Patching

Post by rpm750 on Sat Jan 28, 2012 7:00 pm

You guys have seen all the metal work I've done. Well here are some of the tools I use to do that metal work.

Basic stuff but a few things that you need that will make cutting easier.

A Grinder with a cutting disk instead of a grinding disk.
You have to be careful they do come apart if you bind them up or it jumps and makes contact with an edge.

This one was not so scary, I have had them explode and half of it still on the grinder spinning. Be safe using this thing, gloves and a face shield is a must. Not to mention hearing protection.

I had one of those break one time and almost break my collar bone. There is a huge scar on my shield, Had I not been wearing it I would have had a nice scar or worse on my chin.
I use the same, except mmy sharpie is always missing.

I knew I was missing one tool out of my arsenal of METAL working tools. I need to get me one of those wood chisels.

I use that chisel more than the other. It is thinner and raises the spot weld up so I can see it and drill it out. Just keep it sharp and you're good.

I do use a metal scribe pencil. It leaves a good line to cut by.

Yep, looks like what I use.
Got the Rivi shell in today, man this thing is pretty nice, it's going to be a shame to cut it up to make a truck out of it...
