2012 Event planning

It is (past) time for our yearly planning meeting. If there were any events that you really enjoyed and think we should do them again, please post them here. If there was anything we did that you hope we never do again, please post them here. If you have new ideas, please post them here. The more feedback we get, the better job of planning we can do.

Once we set a date for the planning meeting, I will post it and everyone is welcome to come help figure dates and times for events.

We can do it here and I'm open next weekend, but Sunday is the Super Bowl. I've also got evenings open too.

Sat. Feb 4 we will meet at my house at 6:00pm. Pizza dinner will be provided. Anyone who wants to come is welcome, but please post that you are coming so we can have enough food and chairs.

I know I am new here, but I like the idea of finding and fixing up an old VW and raffling/selling/auctioning it off to raise money for a charity.
Funds might be the issue to get started, but if the charity is a good one, people in teh community will pitch in. Those in teh club who work on it will learn, gain exp, and gives the club a focus point, and community exposure.

There may be a fire, but it will be small and controlled in the wood burning stove.......no brake cleaner needed thanks.

Is there some type of Transportation (Celebration) that VW's will be involved? Have made my list of shows etc and just found out about this one.

Can you shed any light on this ?? I understand that it is being held in Athens.

The ad for this event has 'VW Club' listed, but no one has conacted anyone in our club about it. I have a call in to the Athens Community Council on Aging as they are the ones hosting it. Here is what I found out. It is called Railroad Days: A celebration of transportation. A family event featuring different modes of transportion and bar-b-que. It is held at the old train station 135 Hoyt St.

It is a fund raiser for the Athens Community Council on Aging. $5 admission or $20.00 for a family of 5. 11:00 - 3:30 on Saturday March 10.

WE NEED MORE CARS!

The antique cars will not be able to come due to the owner's illness and they would like more VWs fill the space. So far I'm the only one taking a car down. Can anyone else bring their VW?

I'll take the Thing and my Bug if I can figure out how to drive both.

If you don't want to stay the whole time, that is OK. Your car doesn't need to be anything near show condition; daily drivers are fine.
We are looking for 10 -14 VWs to display. Please let me know if you can come.
