Yanked the gas tank out today, turned it upside down and no liquid came out, only dust and dirt- Took it over to Sims Radiator to be boiled out. Every fuel line will need to be replaced too

That would be a good t-shirt with a picture of a nice or "ratty" square.

It's $65 just to boil it out, or $130 to boil it and seal it. This one had a real clean inside, but some rust in the neck, so I'm going to pass on sealing it and take my chances

I read where someone was going to get a Vanity plate with "Hiptobe" and put it on their Squareback- how funny!

Picked up some Marathon wheels from Caveman (thanks, Caveman), hoping they'll fit even with the crazy Type 3 offset-

Type 3 is the best.....if you have a fat wallet....well that is if its not complete or interior is shot., I still think they were the best of all models, the ride, the comfort ,the simplicity. Only a person that has done one from start to finish can appreciate them. Everything about them is near the same but better, have enjoyed all of my type 3's the most. Good luck to you ,you won't regret it.

Thanks, the Type 3 was VW's luxury car- it is heavier, with disc brakes, dual carbs, tons of storage and the best ride of any VW- but like you said, Type 3 parts are expensive

Thanks for the well wishes, I've gotten a lot of ideas from "pearl" and from Hank's square too

Thanks, I didn't want a new rechromed one, this one matches the patina on the car- now, if I could locate a front bumper with the same patina Very Happy

Mine are marked "ET34" and they fit fine on my square. I also have an extra straight wheel if you need it. I think I got a center cap or 2 around. I will look if you need them.
