If you look at the photo of the rear of that newest poseted, it appears to have little round circles on it.
Hard to tell with the glare, but it looks like little car tires...

Just saying.
I have called this dude in the past and he is an older gentleman that trades ALOT in VW's. In Alabama it is a state law that any viehicle older than 1976 CANNOT have a title, just a bill of sale.
(I have a copy of the state law...)
AL will be an easy place to dump a stolen Aircooled like old yellar.
It would be easy to spray bomb the fenders and the deck lid, the Pope's nose could be changed easily, but the rear window is a little more difficult...

not sure if u've used this search feature for craigslist... but it lets you search multiple cities all at once.

http://crazedlist.org/index.cgi

might help speed up any searches when you're looking for yeller's parts. Sad

I'm thinking that the thief will slip up and try to sell the engine parts without covering up the artwork, at least I hope that happens. A brother-in-law of mine (in Savannah) had a boat stolen, with a motor that needed a part fixed. He contacted all of the outboard motor shops and told them to be on the lookout for someone ordering that part for his engine, and Voila!, that's how they caught the thief.

Ok, here's some stuff that might help. Old Yeller has a lifter tap on #3. Annoys the f*ck outta me, but I miss it.......
Trans axle has a leaky axle seal on the pass. side and she needs a dual circut master cylinder. Turn sigs don't work most of the time, and the only horn that works is on the luggage rack.
Anyone familiar with a band called "Cracker"?

If they try to unload it anywhere near here, they're going to get busted. That's all there is to it. Criminals are normally stupid or desparate. This leads me to believe that your car WILL turn up. And when it does, we'll be there to drop the hammer. A world of crap is comming for this person and karma is a bitch!

On another note... I'd like to remind those who park in public areas like apartments, movies, and other parking lots where they will be out of sight of their dub for any length of time, a simple anti-theft system is to pop the dizzy cap and shove the rotor button in your pocket. Takes two seconds and no tools. It's much more difficult to steal the car when it won't start!

I think my car was towed- but a shift lock would have prevented that.

Re: Old Yeller STOLEN

a good steering wheel lock, and also make sure your E-brake works good. no one wil be able to flat tow it, or dolly it either, since the front wheels will be turned in a funny angle, and the rears won't turn (unless they know to cut the e brake cables, but on a lowered car, that might be near impossible without a jack). they would have to flat tow it, but trying to get it on a trailer would be very difficult and time consuming. as long as you can slow them down or make it as hard as possible for them, they might give up or move on to the next car.
