Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?

Where do I start....
Pulled the motor from Geek to fix Trans seal leak. Really bad, worse than it looked. Fluid all over P/P, TB. Cleaned everything with Carb Cleaner. Finally got the old seal out and the new one in.

I needed to clean out a rusted heater control tube on the pass side. I got some of it cleared but there is still rust and part of the old cable in there. I'm an electrician so I'm going to try to use what we call a Fish Tape in a drill to break out the rust and the old cable. The fish tape is really strong and is used to pull wire, it is about 1/8"x 1/6" and should fit tight and in a drill it is like a drill bit, we'll see.

I'm not sure what the heck I'm doing wrong but this engine is so hard to get back in this car. It's not a space issue it's getting the input shaft into the gland nut. I had to remove the 27mm bolt that holds the trans mount cross member, let the trans drop a bit, then get the engine rear high enough to get it to go in. It's a Bitch! I've never had this much trouble before.

Well it's in though and NO Leaks.....yet. Hope it stays that way!

Later

Oh yeah I cut and bagged the backyard grass! Your welcome babe!

Michael replaced the seals under the oil cooler. Had a bad leak.

Well didn't do anything but drive mine today. However, there was a couple walking around the Sugar Hill show on Saturday trying to sell a '64 vert. Well a friend and I went and looked at it today and it is now sitting in my friends drive way. Needs a top bad, but the body is solid, already has new floor pans and the interior is in great shape.
