get some brake cleaner, spray the engine down till its nice and clean, and start it up, and see if you can see any oil from anywhere. if not take it for a short ride around the block, and check again. you should be able to tell where its comming from.

you have to first post them in a photo hosting page, like photobucket, and then link them here Via the link

for example:

[img]www.photobucket.com/Your_Album/Your_Picture.jpeg{/img]

the last "{" should be a "["

if you don't have a photobucket page, just email them to me, and i'll post them for ya

Photo bucket is being buggy right now, so i'll post them up later, when its not acting up. but its kinda hard to tell from the pics, but is there also oil on the left side? if so it almost looks like blow by from the crank pulley. i doubt its from the oil pump cover, as the pulley tin would shield it. the under side of the motor would be covered in oil, but i wouldn't think the top would get any oil. i'd bet on the pulley. is that a stock pulley? if so, the vents on the motor might be clogged up. check the vent on the oil filler neck, assuming you still have the stock one. it should be routed to the airfilter somehow. if its plugged up, this is most likely your problem. also make sure your oil is at the correct level. too much oil can cause it to blow by the pulley as well.

I kinda stopped it. Took the pulley all the way off and re. Seated it. But it's still leaking. But not bad enough to drip on the floor but my tranny is giving me trouble now I think syncros are failing so I need a new tranny. I do alot of highway driving would it be worth it to get a five speed freeway flyer. Somebody tell me honest opinion

I would probably get a freeway flyer, but unless you are super rich a 5 speed tranny is alot of $$$$$$$

a freeway flyer came stock in later model beetles if i remember correctly. If your talking about those tranny's with a taller 4th gear, i wouldn't. berg did some experiments with this, and having a taller 4th gear will let you go faster on the highway, but the motor is being worked harder, and the fan is turning slower, and causes the motor to overheat.
