Commonly Confused Words
You guys talking about mispronounced words reminded me of a little test I took off of another site:
commonly confused words test
Here's my score from it:
English Genius
You scored 93% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 80% Expert!
You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!
Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it!
I like this test, it's pretty fun to take too.

Re: Commonly Confused Words
dlandvw3...I took the test.....amazed myself really.....
It said--You scored 71% Beginner,93% Intermediate,87% Advanced,and 53% Expert.
You have a good understanding of intermediate and advanced commonly confused English words,
getting at least 75% of the intermediate and advanced level questions correct. The PUZZLING part of
your test result is the fact that you only answered 75% or less correct in the beginner section.
Fascinating.
That's not a polite way of saying 'You Big Dummy'--is it
.....
Pretty cool though......

Re: Commonly Confused Words
Ok..maybe this is just me...but the word that I have a problem with is "restore." Too often it seems that this word is used incorrectly by folks in the car hobby to describe any car that has had some work done to it. To me, restoring a car means to bring it back to the condition it was in when it rolled off the assembly line. Lowering, funky paint, loud stereo, and big engines are not part of a restoration. Not that I don't appreciate those things.
Is it just me?
