New to Georgia

Post by Jim Baker on Mon Nov 30, 2009 8:17 am

Hello!

I moved to Georgia about a year ago from Ohio. I have two beetles a 72' Sunroof and a 76' Convertible. I am looking for club info, I live in Fayetteville. Also if anyone can recommend a good place to purchase cylinder heads locally. My 72' has a stuck valve and I'm about to pull the engine.

Thank you!

Hi Jim. Welcome to the site. There is a group of us that meet in Peachtree City usually every week. Currently we are meeting on Fridays, but refer to this thread as time/place may change.

Our club on the southside of Atlanta is the Aircooled Airheads.

We meet monthly at a Sonic in Mcdonough on the second saturday of every month. There are a couple of us in Newnan that cut through Fayetteville on our way there. If you are ever interested in going, just let me know and we can meet up with you on our way over.

Welcome to the site and state!
Come join us in McDonough for our next Sonic meet on Dec 12th.

I wouldn't call them "local" for you, but they are in the ATL area, try www.stockornaut.com for your heads.

Weclome to our little corner of the web. The Aircooled Airheads is pretty much the only southside club. As said before, we meet in McDonough on the second Saturday of every month and we'd love to have you come hang out. Stockornaut is the place to buy replacement heads if you would like good used ones, but if you would like yours reworked or new I would go to Proflow Performance in Hiram.

Come and hang out with us, always room for one more. No VW requierd. Just come and introduce yourself. No dues, no commitments, just nice folks and cool Volks.

Thanks for all your replies. I do want to hang out with you guys, sounds like fun. My 17 year son drives the 72' beetle that is bright teal that has been lowered and has Porsche wheels on it. You may have seen it rolling around Fayetteville. A valve stuck on it this last weekend and it is the one that needs to have the heads worked on, which I hope to do this week. (I've never done this before, so I may ask you guys some questions)

The 76 convertible is not running at this time and will be a winter project car. I will try to hook up with you guys soon. Will you be meeting this Friday in Peachtree City?

Thank you!

Welcome. If you're looking to buy new cyl. heads shoot me a PM. I have a source for pretty reasonably priced new ones. I may make the Friday meet...if not we'll be at Sonic for sure.
