Please place tech problems in the technical section.

Did you pull the handle up too high now it is not clicking or did you break a cable?

If you pulled it up too high then you just need to flip the inner catch and then tighten your cables up until it only clicks 5 to 6 times before it stops

Oh and before you adjust the cables you need to adjust the rear brakes

here is a samba reply:

Eric&Barb
"It indeed maybe you broke a cable. Could just as easily be you did not keep the brakes adjusted properly!
Either way the below applies!

Yes, you need to figure how to put the E-brake back together. The ratchet pawl is now upside down in the handle. Look under the handle to see it when pulling up on the E-brake handle.

Pull the button and the rod it is screwed onto out of the handle and see how the rear end of the rod has a curve to fit the top of the ratchet pawl.

Reinstall the button and rod with curve in correct direction. lift the handle all the way up. If you can not get it high enough to have the pawl clear the ratchet gear under there you might need to loosen the E-brake cables a bit. Flip the pawl so as to engage the button and curve in the rod. Then with the button still depressed lower the E-brake enough so the pawl engages the lower gear.

Then replace if you have a broken E-brake cable.
BTW anytime you have the rear drums off it is a prime time to remove the brake stars for wire brushing and applying a never seize to keep those stars getting stuck from rusting up.

THEN adjust your brake shoe adjusting stars!!!

THEN AND ONLY THEN adjust the E-brake cables.

After this make sure your E-brake only pulls up 4-8 clicks.
Over 8 clicks and the E-brake will come apart again!!
For stongest working and longest lasting brake shoes, you need to adjust brake stars anytime you get to 6 clicks or even sooner."

ya dude like bryce said..if the ebrake isnt clickin when you raise it or if its not stayin up when you pull on it..then its your lil lever on the inside of the lever. just loosin the cables take the ebrake lever off an flip the lever..make sure the button arm is underneith the lever or it want lock and you will still have the same prob.
