Parts memoriabilia you have, odd stuff

Post by meinvw on Tue Aug 11, 2009 6:18 pm

A thread in the wanted made me think of this. Whats the oddball parts/items you have? Heres a lighter I bought a few years ago, have a few comments on it but like to know the history on it. What have you got in a box in the back room?

Not sure about the lighter but you get extra points for taking it on vinyl.

Yeah, the thread in the wanted section was getting interesting, albiet in the wrong forum, I was gonna suggest we move it but you beat me to it. I will have to dig thru some old boxes and see what I can find. Been needing to straighten up a little anyway.

Here is something neat I found the other day tho:

Its a program from the 4th NOPI bugoff, September 22, 1991. Back before nopi sold out to the emerging ricer movement and abandoned aircooled VW's. Evil or Very Mad But its a business and you have to go where the $ are I guess. Rolling Eyes I think I even have a shirt from the first bug off somewhere. If I remember, there were only 12-15 cars at that one.

Here are the sale inserts as well:

I have maybe 700-1000 old programs, catalogs from the 60's to 70's and also collect repair manuals. Have a nice collection of those as well, have a scientic American repair manual from 1957 I think, pretty funny looking at the pics all slits/ovals and 36h engines in it.
On a side note the pic of the lighter is on a Dark Side Of The Moon vinyl on my ion. Anyone who has vinyl needs one. Turns your old vinyl into mp3's. And fun to play with the editing software as well. My fav is recording all tracks from the darkside and playing them in synch over each other.
Back to the topic at hand here is a training class from vw on vinyl with 2 35mm filmstrips to show while taking the class. Never used, even have the answer cards for the employees to use from 1968.
