Giving a Bus Away

Post by Attorney Isaiah Loophole on Fri Jan 27, 2017 7:48 pm

I have a big project I am working on and I am needing some help. I am trying to buy a bus for a fellow club member that is local to me here on the southside of Atlanta.  He has given back to our club time and time again but has been without a VW for far too long. We are getting a screaming deal on the bus and through a little "part and labor" swapping should only need about $1500 to make the purchase and buy the stuff to make the bus road worthy including a full brake overhaul, a set of tires, and other odds and ends we may need. If we raise more money will buy and install new seals as well.

The plan to have the bus ready to give to him at Y U Buggin

There is a second side to this as well. The bus we are buying is a 78 Bay Window named Groot.  The owner of Groot also has a 67 bus as well and is willing to trade out parts and labor on it towards the purchase price of Groot. So the plan as of now is to do two work weekends one for each bus and get both buses as close to drivers as we can.

If you can help let me know! We will take parts donations, labor and of course cash!

For the 67 we have:
set of brake shoes front and rear
rear wheel cylinders
front wheel bearings and seals
front brake hoses
front brake hardware kit
new stock bus muffler
input shaft seal
rear bumper

We need:
window seals
one side stationary window and seal
a rear window and seal
front wheel cylinders
tie rods
drag link
maybe center pin
master cylinder and resevoir
brake switches
rear brake hoses
rear wheel seal kits
maybe rear brake hardware
rear axle boots
tires (found a set of thin white walls new for $210)
gear oil

I will be doing a mild drop on his bus as well.....flippiing the spindles and one click in the back
